3 Year Limited Warranty for Garage Door Spring Repairs

The spring warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship, for the torsion spring(s) installed and provided by GEM Garage Door Repair LLC as part of the repair. This warranty does not cover extension springs. GEM Garage Door Repair LLC will repair, or if a repair is not possible, will replace any defective part or workmanship at no charge for materials. The service call is all included for a period of one (1) year from the date of installation. After that, the then current service call fee will apply. (As of January 1, 2018, that charge is $150) The warranty for spring repairs shall terminate if the original customer sells or no longer owns the repaired garage door or the property on which it is installed. This warranty cannot be transferred. Garage door must be kept in good, operating condition and properly maintained as specified below. Other wear and tear items like torsion spring cables and garage door rollers are not covered under this warranty.

New Garage Doors – this warranty covers defects in workmanship, including labor and installation, furnished by GEM Garage Door Repair LLC. This warranty for New Garage Doors is valid for one (1) year from the date of installation. The warranty terminates if the original customer sells or no longer owns the property on which the garage door is installed. The garage door manufacturer provides its own separate warranty to you for the door and its parts. The warranty provided by GEM Garage Door Repair LLC does NOT cover the garage door or its parts. GEM Garage Door Repair LLC will correct any defective workmanship and, if a part is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, he will repair or replace that defective part, at not charge for labor, for up to one (1) year from the date of installation.

Exclusions – New garage doors and parts associated with them have their own terms for what is covered and not covered under their warranty. Please refer to the manufacturer’s warranty for what is not covered under its warranty. If anyone other than GEM Garage Door Repair LLC performs any work on any new or repaired part covered by this warranty, then that part and any labor to repair or replace that part is no longer covered under this warranty. Extension springs do not carry the same warranty as torsion springs, and are warrantied separately under a 30 day parts and labor warranty for extension springs only.

This warranty does not cover any materials, parts, or workmanship provided by anyone other than those materials, parts, and workmanship that have been provided by GEM Garage Door Repair LLC. This warranty shall not cover consequential or incidental damages, such as damage or injury to a person or property because a garage door did not operate properly.

The springs warranty does not apply to the following situations: commercial doors or doors used in commercial operations, extremely heavy ( > 250 pounds) doors, wooden doors that are greater than 7′ wide, or doors taller than 8′ tall. In place of a 3 year warranty on heavy and large doors, these doors will have a 1 year parts and labor warranty. Additionally, any single spring installation shall have the following warranties: doors that only have one spring in their set up will have a 1 year parts and labor warranty. Any door that has two springs and only one is replaced will have a 30 day warranty parts and labor. If during the 30 days, the spring that was not replaced breaks, the replaced spring will no longer be covered under warranty.

This warranty does not cover problems caused by abuse, misuse, neglect, civil disturbances or Acts of God. This warranty does not cover commercial door installation or repairs.

Maintenance– quarterly maintenance must be done to maintain the warranty on the springs. This maintenance may be done by the homeowner if they feel confident doing so, or they may have GEM Garage Door Repair LLC do it for them (at an additional charge per visit.) This maintenance should include: oiling the spring with a heavy weight motor oil side to side, but not within 4 inches of each cone (the ends of the spring), visual inspection of all moving parts of the garage door system including but limited to: hinges, cables, and rollers. Hinges should be lubricated and broken or damaged hinges and rollers should be replaced or serviced. If the door or spring(s) fail because of an improperly maintained door, the warranty may be voided at GEM Garage Door Repair LLC’s discretion.

Springs are not to be painted and doing so voids the warranty in its entirety.

Proof of Purchase – We recommend keeping a copy of your invoice and receipt to help validate proof of purchase. Other acceptable means of proof of purchase can be the exact date of repair or a copy of the canceled check or credit card receipt. Proof of purchase must be available for all warranty work.
