Posted on August 31, 2024September 6, 2024 by GEM Garage Door Repair

I am going to promise you this isn’t a fear mongering post right off the bat. I’ve heard terrible stories of bad businesses overcharging customers for stuff they don’t need to scare them into spending tons of money on overprice stuff. You won’t get that at GEM Garage Door Repair. But back to the question I proposed. Yes. They can fall off!

This garage door fell right out of its tracks after an accident while closing the door.

This garage door was old and had some minor problems already with it. There was damage to several parts including failed bearings on the rollers, broken hinges, and cracked door panels. The final nail in the coffin was bring the door down onto something that had fallen into its path. That pulled the cable off one side of the drum. A well intentioned teenager tried to fix it and that didn’t work so well. The best part of this situation? No one was hurt and I was able to get out there and get the door back up and closed until we get install a new garage door for them.

I got the old door back up and working. The homeowner decided however that instead of sinking a bunch of money into a very old and worn out door they would like an upgrade. They selected an insulated door with steel backing. The upgrade was paired with a whisper quiet belt opener that is a huge improvement over the 20+ year old opener that was already in there.
