Homeowner maintenance tips

Oil the center coils once a month with a lint-free cloth and heavy motor or gear oil while keeping lubricant away from the cones.
Detach the opener and lift the door by hand a few times; it should stay balanced at mid-travel without drifting and not be extremely heavy.
Listen for rollers that squeak or click and for tracks that rub; extra friction forces your opener to work harder than it should.

The door only raises a few inches or looks crooked on one side.
You see a gap in the torsion spring.
The opener groans, jerks, or reverses because it senses heavy resistance.
